Big Sky Rag 01:16
2.
'bove the creekbed, the gallow's boards are leanin baby take a look, and see how low i am swinging who on earth is left to call, held unfettered in the highlands? your name is underneath my tongue and your mercy is dealt in my hand i delight in the words you share the secret treasure hidden in darkness like cotton resting on my skin or the cyclic circle we find ourselves in baby break my finger and kiss it and tell me what my pain might elicit the measure of intimacy in infinity or a drop of water falling in the sea
3.
Allegiance 03:28
at length, words shared find only an echo on the credulous heart of a lover along the ecliptic plane she knows not what i hold in store for her strategizing in compliance with a nature exposed fallen in front of the sculpture i'm dispelled and i'm discontented where the logs and teepees burned a stairway now rests that humbles a viewer in allegiance with his despair i'm up late tonight helping sissyphus push his boulder they ask us where do we find god and we point to our hearts making love to this fear i host even acceptance can't avert your ghost gazing over the edge the precipice disstented tell me who holds experience beyond the starry gate?
4.
[on Jupiter] I saw your scars from behind Taken and confined Your heart in my hands feels like fraud Just give me a life that’s pledged to God Sarah, how could I have known it was you? You said I didn’t hurt you But I know what I did Sarah, come hold me, I need you So lucid as the sky is blue All my life to sacrifice for you But tonight I conflate mirrors with mirrors Memories burn bright, nearer and nearer Take me to the edge of the world
5.
across spirals of light there is a portal where the end of the rainbow leads us to null and i set my soul on fire when the world turns away but i hear your voice calling out my name under cloudless skies and martian mystique good and evil make love as the mouth chooses to speak and you walk along with sand tween your toes telling my everything the great grasshopper knows
6.
Fresh Air 03:25
the wind washes away past imprints left in the sand in the briskness and the breeze i find and hold your hand for who can deceive a man in love after hearing the song of the turtle-dove shouting your name out over the waves to learn of all the things your love can save then your sacred arrival comes to breathe fresh air into my lungs i find myself at the door again knocking, to let it all sink in just beyond, there's a bridge made of glass the first step i take is asking the question i was afraid to ask but love I can cross the bridge if you keep your eyes on me
7.
under a sky gray enough to age this iron singing in the wind dulcinea the unseen could will wished words to rescind in privacy when i watch those blooms die in the distance is it vivid in the plane of timeless existence? it is a simple song playing between the lines with hands moving along the 3s, 7s, and the 9s to see who's on the lam -- carry triumph along the long ladder of love tears escaping when we're chewing the cud -- even around the base the flames of love aspire showered in jacaranda blossoms and those icy bosoms whom feel the secret fire framed in front of the bougainvillea know this to be true: the blind see the sun and the moon as twins in the skies and she is under the camouflage of a face i've yet to recognize still i found the ladder to climb in the runs of her black nylon stockings that became my escape route before the antelabbit comes a-knockin
8.
Near-Death 04:21
in front of us, there's a clearing full of crosses but no bodies hang from there lady death kisses my cheek to make a truce then i know the empty spaces we see are the futures we must bear and fighting the crucified is a labor of no use now i cross the river near death with something in the blue montana, showing me the depth that always comes back to you on your way up will you bring me along?
9.
feeling the fall of your voice in ripples, I bend heard the rosy door open to creak, or to crack crushing to the waves' beckon and cull we're tied but I know all my words can never bring you back baby it's such a shame isn't it when the green begs to turn red and eyes begin to glaze over themselves we forget the faces we've seen in our friends while everything melts intoxicating yet the only thing you find to say with a seashell at your ear is "I can only hear my own heartbeat" it was in that moment, I knew to claim victory, we must accept defeat

about

After a summer spent in western Montana, I was deeply inspired and filled with love for my girlfriend and the opportunity that was afforded me in meeting her. These songs are the culmination of the time before we met and the point we are at in our relationship right now. Each song tells a different story about any number of things that happened on that trip.

Big Sky Rag is a celebration song akin to Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass

Intimacy in Infinity is a redemptive love song, pulling out of a dark spot to the brightness of the future

Allegiance is like Emily Dickinson looking at the structuralism of the natural world

Our Sea of Salt is an old one about wronging a lover and trying so hard to make the relationship right again

Grasshopper Whispers is another love song about reaching the potential of a relationship

Fresh Air is sort of the second part of that where one might bask in the decadence of love

Dulcinea the Unseen is taking a look back and reconciling with the escapism of the past to appreciate what was and what is to be

Near-Death is just that. A near death experience on the highway, almost being torn in half by two semis

Ripples is an delusional ode to being black out drunk
