Near Death
04:21
|
|
||
in front of us, there's a clearing full of crosses
but no bodies hang from there
lady death kisses my cheek
to make a truce
then i know the empty spaces we see
are the futures we must bear
and fighting the crucified
is a labor of no use
now i cross the river near death
with something in the blue
montana, showing me the depth
that always comes back to you
on your way up
will you bring me along?

Fresh Air
03:25
|
|
||
the wind washes away
the past imprints left in the sand
in the briskness and the breeze
i find and hold your hand
for who can deceive a man in love
after hearing the song of the turtle dove
shouting your name out over the waves
to learn of all the things your love can save
then your sacred arrival comes
to breathe fresh air into my lungs
i find myself at the door again
knocking, to let it all sink in
just beyond there's a bridge made of glass
the first step i take is asking the question
i was afraid to ask
but love i can cross that bridge
if you keep your eyes on me

Oklahoma
02:39

|

given time to "think" in oklahoma
that's bullshit to listen to
everybody with their pencils in hand
written their love letters to you
a memory ruined by a dark coffee stain
intoxicatingly circular thoughts
forgotten that pulls never learnt how to push
with their throats tying in knots
fire works in the lines drawn deep in the sand
as a mirror welcoming smoke
for a tiny cup holds hardly enough coffee
an officer with a badge awoke
a threesome in the desert becomes obvious
between you, space and time
now it's she's asking us all "whodunnit?"
nickels turning amongst dimes

War (East of the Sun)
01:59
|
|
||
we looked into the sky as its blue fought the grey
and all the flowers had let their colors go
are we as young as we were yesterday
or will we ever be as old as we are tomorrow?
then we leave the darkness behind
by taking a blind step into the pitch black
i thought for a moment that your dreams were mine
but audrey they'll always come crawling back
to you
